Here’s another photo from Venice, in which I photographed St. Mark’s Basilica and Campanile reflected in the window of a shop across the square. The shop was located in an arcade separated from the square by stone archways. The reflection was so clear that it was almost like looking through a window, yet where the archway blocked the reflection you can see the interior of the store, making for a dual image. I took plenty of more traditional photos of St. Mark’s that are successful for other reasons, but I like this one for its unusual perspective.

Old gift wrap makes a wonderful background for album pages. To add layers and dimensions to your pages, cut borders and frames from Christmas paper and greeting cards using a scrapbooking scissors, called a “paper shaper.” You can even use a punch to create tiny stars and snowflakes out of Christmas gift wrap. And don’t forget the gift tags! Leftover gift tags are perfect for labeling holiday photographs.
My previous articles were primarily directed at the more experienced photographer. If you relate to the above introduction, this article and the next are especially for you. Many people don’t want to learn about the mechanics of photography but at the same time desire their vacation pictures to provide them wonderful memories.
